Experience a distinctive traditional presentation of Mahaprabhu with this Jagannath Murti in Senapata Lagi with Boirani Vastra, handcrafted in Puri by Vishwakarmaa Creations.
Created from pure Neem wood, this murti brings together traditional Jagannath craftsmanship with the visual identity of Senapata Lagi and Boirani Vastra, making it a meaningful choice for devotees who appreciate the deeper ritual and cultural expressions associated with Mahaprabhu.
Every murti is individually created by our Vishwakarmaa family.
There is no mass production.
There is no ready-made factory process.
Each murti begins its journey only after your order is received.
The Distinctive Senapata Lagi Form
What makes this Jagannath Murti especially unique is its Senapata Lagi presentation.
The deity is prepared and presented with the distinctive traditional styling associated with this form, creating a strong and visually powerful appearance of Mahaprabhu.
The arrangement is completed with Boirani Vastra, giving the murti a traditional textile character that adds depth, texture and cultural identity to the final presentation.
This makes the product especially suitable for devotees looking for something beyond a standard Jagannath Murti.
It carries a specific traditional expression and story.
Traditional Boirani Vastra
The Boirani Vastra forms an important visual part of this particular murti arrangement.
The cloth is carefully placed and worked around the form of Mahaprabhu so that it complements the proportions of the deity rather than appearing like an ordinary decorative fabric.
Its texture and traditional appearance give the murti a richer handcrafted character.
Because the vastra is arranged manually, slight differences in folds, placement and finishing may naturally occur from one murti to another.
These variations are part of the individuality of handmade craftsmanship.
Handcrafted from Pure Neem Wood
The foundation of every Vishwakarmaa Creations Jagannath Murti begins with pure Neem wood.
The wooden form is individually carved and shaped by hand before progressing through the traditional preparation stages.
Our family carefully works on:
- Rounded body structure
- Traditional proportions
- Hand and joint construction
- Facial form
- Sacred eyes
- Traditional markings
- Surface preparation
- Senapata Lagi presentation
- Boirani Vastra arrangement
- Final hand detailing
Every stage requires patience and individual attention.
Traditional Temple-Style Form
The murti is created with our focus on maintaining the traditional rounded temple-inspired form of Mahaprabhu Jagannath.
Rather than simplifying the deity into a basic rectangular wooden shape, the form is shaped carefully to preserve the distinctive appearance associated with Lord Jagannath.
The iconic circular eyes, facial expression, arms, body form and sacred markings are individually completed by hand.
The Senapata Lagi and Boirani Vastra arrangement is then added to complete the distinctive final appearance.
Bamboo & Wooden Jointing — No Metal Nails
We do not use ordinary metal nails for joining the hands of Mahaprabhu.
Instead, our family follows traditional bamboo/wooden locking and wooden nail techniques.
This requires additional craftsmanship and time, but it remains an important element in the way we approach traditional Daru craftsmanship.
The construction process is therefore treated as part of the murti itself, not simply as a hidden manufacturing shortcut.
Traditional Shaptabaran Process
Once the carved Neem wooden form is completed, the Jagannath Murti undergoes our traditional Shaptabaran process.
The deity is gradually prepared through multiple layers before colouring and final decoration.
The traditional process represented in our craftsmanship includes:
1. Neem Wooden Form
The carved wooden body forms the foundation of Mahaprabhu.
2. Chhāchi Patta
Applied as one of the traditional preparation layers.
3. Sal Wood Resin & Sesame Oil Preparation
Used within the traditional layering process.
4. Neta Patta
Another stage of the traditional surface preparation.
5. Sandalwood, Camphor, Musk & Kumkum Preparation
Used as part of the traditional treatment of the deity.
6. White Cloth Layer
Applied as another important preparation layer.
7. Khaduā & Sandal Preparation
Creates the final prepared surface before colouring and detailing.
Only after these stages does the murti move toward its final visual identity.
Banaka Lagi — Traditional Hand Colouring
After Shaptabaran, the murti enters the stage of Banaka Lagi.
Mahaprabhu’s iconic black form, sacred eyes, facial markings, lips and decorative elements are carefully completed by hand.
The final appearance is developed one detail at a time.
No printed face.
No machine-applied expression.
No identical factory finish.
Each eye and each line is created manually, which means every Jagannath Murti naturally carries a slightly different expression and handmade character.
Senapata Lagi & Boirani Vastra Final Presentation
After the fundamental wooden craftsmanship, Shaptabaran and Banaka Lagi are completed, the murti receives its distinctive Senapata Lagi and Boirani Vastra presentation.
This final stage gives Mahaprabhu the unique character of this particular product.
The wooden form, sacred colouring and traditional textile treatment come together as one complete composition.
The result is a Jagannath Murti that feels visually different from an everyday decorative murti and carries a strong connection with traditional Jagannath culture.
