Description

Jagannath Balabhadra Sudarshan Murti Set in Pure Neem Wood

Bring the sacred presence of Mahaprabhu Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Sudarshan into your home with this traditionally handcrafted Jagannath Murti set from Puri.

Each deity is individually created from pure Neem wood by the Vishwakarmaa family of Vishwakarmaa Creations, following the traditional craftsmanship that our family continues with patience, devotion and seva.

For us, creating a Jagannath Murti is not simply carving and colouring wood.

It is a journey.

From preparing the Neem wooden form to traditional joining, Shaptabaran, Banaka Lagi and final detailing, every stage is performed carefully by hand.

No mass production. No factory-made stock. No shortcuts.

The Sacred Murti Set

This handcrafted set includes:

Mahaprabhu Jagannath
Lord Balabhadra
Sudarshan

Each sacred form is individually carved, shaped, prepared and coloured by hand.

Mahaprabhu Jagannath is created in His distinctive black form with His iconic large sacred eyes.

Lord Balabhadra is represented in His traditional white form with characteristic facial markings and detailing.

Sudarshan is individually prepared as part of the sacred arrangement.

Together, they create a beautiful devotional set suitable for a home temple, puja room or sacred spiritual space.

Handcrafted from Pure Neem Wood

Every Jagannath Murti begins with pure Neem wood.

The wooden forms are individually carved and shaped by hand before progressing through the traditional preparation process.

Our family carefully works on:

  • Traditional body proportions
  • Rounded deity forms
  • Hands and joints
  • Facial structure
  • Sacred eyes
  • Traditional markings
  • Decorative detailing
  • Final colouring

Because every murti is handmade, minor differences between individual pieces are natural.

These variations are part of the character of authentic handcrafted work.

Traditional Temple-Style Form

One of the defining features of Vishwakarmaa Creations is our focus on maintaining the traditional rounded temple-inspired appearance of Mahaprabhu.

Rather than creating simplified rectangular wooden figures, the deity forms are carefully shaped by hand.

The distinctive eyes, arms, expressions, proportions and traditional colours are individually created to preserve the visual character associated with Lord Jagannath and Lord Balabhadra.

Bamboo & Wooden Jointing — No Metal Nails

We do not use ordinary metal nails to join the hands of the deities.

Instead, our family follows traditional bamboo/wooden locking and wooden nail techniques.

This method requires additional time, skill and patience, but it is an important part of the traditional Daru craftsmanship followed by Vishwakarmaa Creations.

Traditional Shaptabaran Process

After the Neem wooden forms are completed, the deities undergo the traditional Shaptabaran process.

The wooden form is gradually prepared through multiple layers before the final colouring and detailing begins.

The traditional stages represented in our craftsmanship include:

1. Neem Wooden Form

The carved wooden structure forms the foundation of the deity.

2. Chhāchi Patta

Used traditionally as one of the preparation layers.

3. Sal Wood Resin & Sesame Oil Preparation

Applied as part of the traditional layering process.

4. Neta Patta

Another stage in the traditional preparation of the deity.

5. Sandalwood, Camphor, Musk & Kumkum Preparation

Used as part of the traditional treatment of the surface.

6. White Cloth Layer

Applied as another important layer over the prepared wooden form.

7. Khaduā & Sandal Preparation

Creates the final prepared surface before colouring begins.

This detailed process is one of the reasons our Jagannath Murtis require substantially more time than ordinary mass-produced wooden idols.

Banaka Lagi — Traditional Hand Colouring

Once Shaptabaran is completed, the murti proceeds to Banaka Lagi.

This is where the sacred appearance of each deity gradually comes alive through colour and hand detailing.

Mahaprabhu Jagannath receives His iconic black appearance, large circular eyes and traditional markings.

Lord Balabhadra receives His distinctive white appearance and detailed facial features.

Sudarshan is individually prepared and decorated as part of the complete set.

Every eye, line, ornament and decorative feature is completed manually.

There is no printed face or machine-produced finish.

Each stroke carries the hand of the artisan who created it.

Bamboo/Wooden Jointing

Shaptabaran

Careful Packing & Dispatch

Every stage receives individual attention from our family.

Made Only After Your Order

At Vishwakarmaa Creations, we do not maintain large quantities of finished Jagannath Murtis as ordinary ready stock.

Your murti begins its journey after your order is placed.

The Neem wood is prepared.

The forms are carved.

The traditional layers are applied.

The colours and expressions are completed by hand.

During this process, step-by-step crafting photographs can be shared with you, allowing you to witness how your murti gradually takes form in Puri.

You know who is creating your murti.

You know how it is being created.

And you can witness the journey before Mahaprabhu reaches your home.
