Description

Jagannath Murti — Handcrafted in Pure Neem Wood

A sacred form of Mahaprabhu brought to life through wood, cloth, colour, tradition and generations of craftsmanship.

This special Jagannath Murti from Vishwakarmaa Creations is handcrafted in Puri from pure Neem wood and beautifully presented in a traditional cloth-wrapped Besha that gives the deity a wonderfully tactile and distinctive appearance.

The contrasting red, white and blue textile detailing around the body and hands brings an added sense of warmth and individuality to the murti, while Mahaprabhu’s iconic eyes and expression are carefully completed by hand.

Every piece carries the small variations that make genuine handmade craftsmanship unique.

Crafted from Pure Neem Wood

The foundation of the murti begins with carefully selected Neem wood.

The wooden form is individually carved and shaped by hand before moving through the traditional stages of preparation and detailing.

For us, the material is not simply a production choice.

Neem wood forms an important part of the traditional craftsmanship through which we create our Jagannath Murtis.

Traditional Temple-Inspired Form

Mahaprabhu’s unmistakable rounded form, expansive eyes and open arms form the heart of this design.

Rather than producing a simplified rectangular souvenir figure, we preserve the rounded temple-inspired form of Lord Jagannath that defines our craftsmanship.

Every curve is shaped manually.

Every expression is painted manually.

Every murti is made individually.

Traditional Wooden & Bamboo Jointing

We avoid metal nails while creating the deity.

The hands and wooden components are joined through traditional bamboo/wooden locking and wooden nail techniques, preserving the character of traditional Daru craftsmanship.

It is a process that requires greater patience than modern shortcuts—but patience is an essential part of how we work.

Shaptabaran — Layer by Layer

Following the completion of the carved wooden form, the murti goes through our traditional Shaptabaran process.

Layer after layer is carefully prepared before the final appearance of Mahaprabhu is completed.

It is this slow process of building the deity—from the Neem wooden foundation through surface preparation and finishing—that gives our work its distinctive character.

A Beautiful Traditional Besha

What makes this Jagannath Murti especially striking is its cloth-wrapped Besha.

The textile is carefully worked around the deity’s form and arms, creating a rich handmade texture that contrasts beautifully with the painted face of Mahaprabhu.

Red, white and blue detailing gives the murti a vibrant yet deeply traditional appearance.

Rather than hiding the handmade nature of the piece, the textile work celebrates it.

You can see the threads.

You can see the handwork.

You can feel that the murti was created individually.

Banaka Lagi — The Face of Mahaprabhu

The final identity of the deity emerges through Banaka Lagi and hand colouring.

Mahaprabhu’s large circular eyes, red facial outline, smile and sacred markings are patiently applied by hand.

No two hand-painted faces will ever be perfectly identical.

And that is exactly how genuine handmade craftsmanship should be.

Each Jagannath Murti carries its own expression and character.

Made to Order in Puri

At Vishwakarmaa Creations, we do not mass-produce hundreds of identical murtis and keep them waiting in a warehouse.

Your murti begins its journey after your order.

Our family works through each stage individually:

Pure Neem Wood

Hand Carving

Temple-Style Shaping

Bamboo/Wooden Jointing

Shaptabaran

Traditional Besha Preparation

Banaka Lagi & Hand Colouring

Final Detailing

Packing & Dispatch

Depending upon the size and detailing, the complete process can take approximately three months.

Because we believe something created with devotion should never be rushed.

Why Vishwakarmaa Creations?

Pure Neem Wood

The murti begins from genuine Neem wood rather than unspecified substitute materials.

Handcrafted in Puri

Created by our family in Odisha, close to the sacred cultural home of Mahaprabhu Jagannath.

No Metal Nails

Traditional bamboo/wooden methods are used for joining the deity.

Shaptabaran

The murti undergoes our traditional multi-stage preparation process.

Banaka Lagi

Mahaprabhu’s facial features and sacred details are individually completed by hand.

Traditional Besha

This particular design receives a distinctive textile-wrapped treatment, creating a beautiful handcrafted character.

Family Craftsmanship

Our murtis are created within our Vishwakarmaa family tradition rather than through anonymous factory production.

Made to Order

Each murti receives individual time and attention.

Transparent Crafting Journey

Process photographs can be shared so you can witness your Mahaprabhu taking form.

More Than a Wooden Murti

There is something beautiful about seeing the human hand in sacred craftsmanship.

A perfectly uniform machine product may look identical every time.

A handmade Jagannath Murti carries something different.

A curve shaped by hand.

A thread individually wrapped.

An eye individually painted.

A detail completed patiently.

And months of work behind something that may eventually become part of a family’s sacred space for generations.

For our Vishwakarmaa family, that responsibility matters.

No shortcuts.
No mass production.
Only Neem wood, tradition, craftsmanship and seva.
